Manila to Matnog BikeTour

This was one bike tour I truly prepared for—mentally and physically. Before committing to the route, I trained extensively on my usual proving ground: the Infanta Loop. That familiar stretch helped me iron out pacing, manage fatigue, and build the mindset needed for long days on the road.

I also leaned heavily on experience. Everything I learned from my Manila–Pagudpud and Manila–Aparri bike tours found its way into this ride—knowing when to push, when to hold back, and when to simply listen to what the road was telling me.

The original plan was to complete the route in five days, but the weather had other plans. By the fifth day, conditions made it clear that moving forward wasn’t the smartest choice. Instead of forcing progress, I decided to wait, slow down, and enjoy the moment before heading home.

Looking back, that decision captured the real lesson of this tour. Preparation isn’t just about strength or endurance—it’s about judgment. Sometimes the best move isn’t to keep going, but to respect the conditions, appreciate how far you’ve already come, and know that the road will always be there for another attempt.

Here are some photos from the journey—quiet reminders that not every successful tour has to end exactly as planned.
